Three Murgon businesses will be turning pink on Friday, to raise funds for breast cancer research.<\/p>\n

The action will be happening from 7:00am to 9:00am outside Alicia’s Spa and Hair Worx, Murgon Saddlery and Carney’s Feed Store in Lamb Street, Murgon.<\/p>\n

Host Alicia Pidgeon said there’ll be a sausage sizzle, pink cup cakes and a cuppa to enjoy.<\/p>\n

“Come along and join in!”<\/p>\n

All funds raised will go to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This community-funded body makes grants to researchers investigating breast cancer.<\/p>\n

This year, half of the funded projects have concentrated on metastatic breast cancer.<\/p>\n

According to the Foundation, up to a one-third of women with breast cancer go on to develop metastatic breast cancer; the five-year survival rate for women with metastatic breast cancer is 40 per cent, compared with 90 per cent for all women diagnosed with breast cancer.<\/p>\n

The Foundation’s goal is to raise $2 million from the Pink Ribbon Breakfasts which are being held across Australia.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
