This year’s rally by the Kingaroy & District Vintage Machinery Club\u00a0was extra special … it was their 20th rally and their fifth at their purpose-built grounds in Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

The area, near Kingaroy Airport, was filled with trucks, tractors, stationery engines and even a few classic cars.<\/p>\n

The focus this year was on Fordson, a tractor brand developed by Henry Ford which was sold from 1917 to 1964 (although all the later years were manufactured in England, not the United States).<\/p>\n

The Grand Parade featured a large contingent of historic Fordson tractors, huffing their way around the arena.<\/p>\n

They were followed by tractors from other makers as well as a big display of trucks.<\/p>\n

The day also included demonstrations of old farming skills such as using a bag loader to load bagged peanuts on to a truck, log splitting and ploughing.<\/p>\n

There were also slow tractor races in the arena as well as the always popular tractor pulls, where tractors pull a weighted a sled down a course.<\/p>\n

The further each tractor goes, the further the weight shifts forward to make the task even harder.<\/p>\n
