Creative Connections in Nanango welcomed in Spring recently with a special Devonshire tea morning at their centre in George Street, Nanango.<\/p>\n

The group, which is a project of the Nanango Arts Network Alliance (NANA), is based in the former Winds Of Change art gallery building.<\/p>\n

It organises craft classes for adults and school holiday activities for children – anything that encourages creativity and helps to relieve social isolation.<\/p>\n

“It’s all about bringing people together,” NANA chairperson Sandy Towell said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A current project is making shopping bags to replace plastic supermarket bags which will be banned in Queensland next year.<\/p>\n

Classes on how to do bonsai are also being arranged, and the pottery room is fitted out with two wheels for beginners to try out.<\/p>\n

Sandy said one craftsperson, who was prevented by illness from coming into the centre, makes beautiful art pieces at home out of recycled plastic.<\/p>\n

The works are so intricate, no one would recognise their humble beginnings.<\/p>\n

“The Spring Garden Party was an opportunity to sell some wares and let people know what we do,” Sandy said.<\/p>\n

Works made by the crafts workers are on sale at the gallery, which is open Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 4:00pm.<\/p>\n

The group has also held two wine and cheese evenings recently, which may become a more regular event.<\/p>\n
