The Nanango and District Netball Club moved $1000 closer to their goal of raising $240,000 for new netball courts on Tuesday, thanks to a surprise donation from visiting campervanners.<\/p>\n

The money came from the Campervan and Motorhome Club’s Solos Network, who have been holding their 20th birthday rally at Nanango Showgrounds over the past week.<\/p>\n

“We are always glad to spend money in the towns we stay in,” assistant rally co-ordinator Glenyce Mills said.<\/p>\n

“This $1000 donation is just a small proportion of the income our rally generated for Nanango.<\/p>\n

“There was a regular bus to town most days which took people to the local stores, then back to their motorhomes.”<\/p>\n

“But the courts are in terrible condition and we could see the netball club definitely needed all the help they could get,” Glenys said.<\/p>\n

Over 300 motorhomes – nearly 350 people – pulled together their loose change to make the donation.<\/p>\n

Nanango and District Netball president Sheena Lindholm and her daughter Emma were presented with the money by rally co-ordinator Elaine Bowls.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“We just cannot believe the generosity of all of the Solos members who heard about our fundraising drive for the courts when they came to town,” Sheena said.<\/p>\n

“They called us a few months ago and gave us the opportunity to welcome visitors through the gate for a gold coin donation.<\/p>\n

“We thought we’d just make a few dollars but we walked away from that day with a lot of great company and stories of travel.<\/p>\n

“We simply can’t find the words to express our gratitude for the Solos club going on to raise $1000 for us.”<\/p>\n
