Firefighters called in a large bulldozer to clear scrub in a bid to control a fire burning along Smith Road at Booie on Monday afternoon.<\/p>\n

The fire broke out about 2:30pm and spread rapidly to farmland and a strip of remnant vegetation along the roadside.<\/p>\n

Rural fire crews from East and South Nanango, Malar Booie and Stuart River brigades were amongst the crews which attended.<\/p>\n

The fire was quickly extinguished but at 3:40pm, firefighters were planning to conduct a back-burning operation in the scrub to ensure the area was totally safe.<\/p>\n

The fire created a lot of smoke in the Booie and Hodgeleigh areas.<\/p>\n

UPDATE 5:30pm<\/strong><\/p>\n

QFES crews are still on the scene of the fire at Smith Road at Booie. Firefighters are continuing to mop up and will patrol the area into the evening.<\/p>\n

UPDATE 3:40pm<\/strong><\/p>\n

The fire is now out but fire crews still on the scene, on Smith Road near Hodgeleigh North Road, and are planning to carry out a controlled burn to further protect the area.<\/p>\n

UPDATE 2:30pm<\/strong><\/p>\n

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advised on Monday there was a bushfire in the vicinity of Smiths Road and Kahler Road at Booie, travelling in a south-easterly direction.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Nine units are on the scene and people in the area will be affected by smoke.<\/p>\n

Firefighters are currently using machinery to strengthen fire breaks and crews are also backburning in the area, but there is no direct threat to property at this time.<\/p>\n

Residents in the area should call Triple Zero (000) immediately if they believe they or their property is under threat.<\/p>\n
