Bookarama is Taabinga Rotary Club’s major fundraiser for the year; it only lasts two days but the big weekend is months in the planning.<\/p>\n

Not only do members have to gather together and store the books – an estimated 25,000 this year – but they have to be sorted into categories.<\/p>\n

Then they have to be packed into boxes, transported to Kingaroy Town Hall, unpacked and put out on tables so the public can browse through them.<\/p>\n

And over the weekend, the tables are continually restocked as books are sold.<\/p>\n

Packing the trailers began on Thursday before Bookarama, two days before the Town Hall doors opened on Saturday morning.<\/p>\n

Taabinga Rotary past president Paul\u00a0Laurentiussen told southburnett.com.au<\/strong>\u00a0he believed the crowd through the doors on the Saturday was at least equal to last year, and he was very happy with how sales had gone.<\/p>\n

Books were sold for $3.00, $2.00 and $1.00; the already heavily discounted books were then discounted even more on Sunday morning.<\/p>\n

Taabinga Rotary plans to split the profits from this year’s Bookarama to four charities: \u00a0South Burnett Pantry, AgForce Queensland, Proston Men’s Shed and LifeFlight.<\/p>\n
