Two riders were injured in separate falls from horses at the weekend.<\/p>\n

The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was called to Widgee on Sunday to assist a man aged in his 60s who was badly injured when the horse he had been riding fell on top of him.<\/p>\n

The rider had been performing in an event when he was injured.<\/p>\n

He was treated on the scene initially by the ambulance paramedics until the LifeFlight helicopter arrived at a nearby oval.<\/p>\n

The RACQ LifeFlight Aeromedical team of a critical care doctor and paramedic assisted the QAS in treating the patient for numerous injuries before he was airlifted to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a serious but stable condition.<\/p>\n

In the second accident, the helicopter flew back to Curra, north of the Wide Bay Highway, after a man aged in his mid-40s suffered a broken leg after falling from his horse while riding on his property.<\/p>\n
