Construction has started on building a new overtaking lane on the D\u2019Aguilar Highway between Nanango and Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

The lane will be about 13km north-west of Nanango, near Lucas Road.<\/p>\n

Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington said the $1.2 million project would provide an opportunity for motorists to safely pass on this section of the highway.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe project is the starting phase of my election commitments to build passing lanes on our busy road networks. It involves widening the existing highway and culverts to build a one kilometre 3.5m-wide passing lane,\u201d Mrs Frecklington said.<\/p>\n

Mrs Frecklington said there would be a reduced speed limit in place while the works were carried out to ensure the safety of motorists and road workers.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs these works get underway, I ask for the community\u2019s patience, and urge motorists to drive to the changed conditions and obey all signage and instructions from traffic controllers,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thank all road users for their co-operation and patience while these important works are underway.\u201d<\/p>\n

South Burnett Regional Council will undertake the works on behalf of Transport and Main Roads. The work is expected to be completed by mid-2013, weather permitting.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
