Biloela resident Darren Blackwood has been named as the Australian Labor Party’s candidate for Callide in the upcoming State Election.<\/p>\n

Mr Blackwood grew up in Biloela and has spent his entire working life there.<\/p>\n

He is married to Karen and the couple has three children, aged 17, 19 and 21.<\/p>\n

He began his working life in 1986 at Teys Bros abattoir in Biloela, before moving to Biloela\u2019s Callide thermal coal mine in 1992.<\/p>\n

Over the past 25 years, Mr Blackwood has worked as a technician at the mine and for the past 12 years has represented his fellow workers as a CFMEU delegate.<\/p>\n

He has previously been involved with the Biloela Rugby Union Club and Biloela Little Athletics.<\/p>\n

He says he is extremely passionate about fighting for good secure jobs and fighting the job casualisation that has been destroying the local community.<\/p>\n
