Strong winds caused problems for firefighters called to a grassfire accidentally started near Wondai on Saturday afternoon.<\/p>\n

The fire began from a small sedan being driven around the boundary of a farm in Wesslings Road.<\/p>\n

Grass around the vehicle suddenly caught fire and the owner of the farm said there was nothing the driver could do to stop the spread of the fire.<\/p>\n

The flames advanced quickly, jumping Wesslings Road and heading towards a nearby business, Cleggs Masonry & Building Supplies.<\/p>\n

Urban brigades from Murgon and Wondai, and rural brigades from Tablelands and McEuen attended the incident.<\/p>\n

Firefighters stopped the flames at the fenceline of Cleggs Masonry and then began the task of making the fire ground safe so that the strong winds would not whip up another fire.<\/p>\n

The grassfire created heavy smoke which caused visibility problems on Wesslings Road.<\/p>\n

The North Coast regional tanker was called in to supply a back up of water<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Greg Day, from McEuen rural brigade, was laying down foam to smother the fire in smouldering logs<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

A small tractor was also enlisted to help make the area safe<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
