Toowoomba Mayor Paul Antonio welcomed a special delegation of Australia\u2019s South-East Asian Ambassadors and High Commissioners to the region on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Ambassadors from Cambodia, Brunei, Indonesia, Laos, the Philippines, Singapore, Vietnam and Thailand met in Toowoomba to gain a better understanding of the region\u2019s capacity as an agricultural centre.<\/p>\n

Mayor Antonio said hosting the group was a major coup for the region.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Australia-ASEAN Council is tasked with generating opportunities for Australian and ASEAN business, education, science and innovation and the arts,” Mayor Antonio said.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo be singled out as a regional centre, because of the strength of our economy and agriculture offering, and the resulting opportunities for our region to enhance trade with South-East Asia is fantastic.”<\/p>\n

The three-day visit included inspections of major agricultural enterprises.<\/p>\n
