The South Burnett Regional Council will receive an extra year of TIDS funding from the State Government for road projects<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The South Burnett Regional Council will receive some extra money for roads over the next three financial years, thanks to a decision by the State Government to extend a popular grant program.<\/p>\n

This week the Council was advised the Transport Infrastructure Development Scheme (TIDS), which was due to wind down at the end of 2019-20, has now been extended an extra year to 2020-21.<\/p>\n

TIDS funding is administered by the Department of Transport and Main Roads and is matched by Councils on a 50\/50 basis.<\/p>\n

It is used to extend other roadwork programs Councils already have in place.<\/p>\n

This financial year, the Council will be using its TIDS funding to complete the following projects:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • Kumbia Road<\/strong> \u2013 road widening<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
      \n
    • Memerambi Barkers Creek Road<\/strong> \u2013 full width construction and sealing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
        \n
      • Kumbia State School<\/strong> \u2013 children\u2019s crossing and footpath extension<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
          \n
        • Taabinga State School<\/strong> \u2013 children\u2019s crossing, footpath extension and kerb and channelling<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
            \n
          • Wondai State School<\/strong> \u2013 footpath extension and kerb and median works<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            TIDS projects for the following three financial years have yet to be determined.<\/p>\n

            “Upgrading and improving the maintenance on our roads has been a major focus for this Council,” Mayor Keith Campbell said.<\/p>\n
