The South Burnett Regional Council is calling for tenders to take over the running of Nanango’s Ringsfield House.<\/p>\n

The historic property closed on March 31 when the Nanango Historical Society stepped down from its 22 year association with the complex.<\/p>\n

The Society said an ageing membership and an inability to find enough volunteers to carry out routine maintenance was the reason it had to hand back Ringsfield’s day-to-day management to the Council, which owns the land and buildings.<\/p>\n

The Council initially hoped to have Ringsfield reopened within months, and called for expressions of interest (EOIs) to manage the complex on May 19.<\/p>\n

However, while the Council received three oral expressions of interest, no formal written submissions were received when EOIs closed on June 30.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday South Burnett Mayor Keith Campbell said during the past six weeks the Council had received feedback there were people genuinely interested in running the complex.<\/p>\n

Because of this, the Council issued a tender last week.<\/p>\n

The tender is open to both private businesses and not-for-profit groups, and will close at 3:00pm on Wednesday, August 30.<\/p>\n
