Steve Parrish led a workshop for a large group of South Burnett photographers on Saturday<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Well-known nature photographer, author and publisher Steve Parrish shared some tips and tricks with South Burnett photographers at the weekend as the first part of the Kingaroy Concerned Citizens’ Group 385 Alive! anti-coal mine campaign.<\/p>\n

Steve hosted a photography workshop for high school students on Friday, followed by a free “Evening with Steve Parrish” where he entertained his audience with anecdotes about his life and 45-year career.<\/p>\n

Many of the participants returned on Saturday for his one-day photographic seminar, “The Joy of Photographic Storytelling”, held at St Mary’s Catholic College.<\/p>\n

Steve worked his way through the whole creative process … from capturing photos in the field, \u00a0digital manipulation and creating art to managing a photographic library.<\/p>\n

He also demonstrated some of his favourite software, including Adobe Lightroom and Topaz Simplicity, which he has used to create everything from calendars to bedspreads and artworks.<\/p>\n

KCCG spokesman John Dalton said he was very pleased with the attendance at the workshop.<\/p>\n

The second part of the\u00a0385 Alive! project is now underway.<\/p>\n

The art competition has sections for people of all ages, using art, photography, dance, poetry or song.<\/p>\n

An exhibition of works will be held at St Mary’s Catholic College from 1:00pm to 4:00pm to October 1, followed by the presentation of awards.<\/p>\n
