A Victorian driver has been issued with a $1177 speeding ticket after he was pulled over on the Bunya Highway on Monday afternoon doing more than twice the legal limit in a school zone.<\/p>\n

Senior Constable Adam Entwistle, from Kumbia Police, said the 60-year-old driver was detected doing 82km\/h in the 40km\/h zone outside Kumbia State School about 3:00pm.<\/p>\n

As he approached the vehicle, Senior Constable Entwistle said\u00a0he saw a 60-year-old woman lying down on the folded rear seat between the back seat and the rear cargo area of the vehicle.<\/p>\n

“The male was issued two infringement notices: Exceeding speed limit ($1177) and driving with an unrestrained passenger ($378). The female was issued an infringement notice for \u00a0failing to wear a seatbelt ($378),” he said.<\/p>\n

Senior Constable Entwistle urged drivers to take special care to obey the speed limit in school zones.<\/p>\n

“These zones are in place to help protect the safety of our children,” he said.<\/p>\n

“And drivers should remember they are also responsible – and liable – for their passengers’ safety.”<\/p>\n

A 23-year-old Burpengary man has been issued with a Notice to Appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court after he was stopped by the Kingaroy Road Policing Unit while driving in Markwell Street, Kingaroy, on Friday afternoon.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Police will allege that the driver tested positive to both methamphetamine and cannabis.<\/p>\n

A search of the man’s car allegedly uncovered a quantity of cannabis as well as drug utensils.<\/p>\n

A 38-year-old Kingaroy woman has been issued with a Notice to Appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court after she was stopped by\u00a0the Kingaroy Road Policing Unit on Friday afternoon.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n
