Kingaroy businesswoman Dawn Wolski is no stranger to fundraising but, as she admits, most of the money she has helped raise over the years has left town.<\/p>\n

Dawn, who owns the Glendon Street Cafe, was looking for a way to raise money for groups that she knew would use the money in the South Burnett.<\/p>\n

She hit on an idea after the South Burnett Rewards “shop local” campaign drew to a close.<\/p>\n

The cafe took part in the Council promotion and was one of the winners, taking out the award for “most reward cards scanned”.<\/p>\n

Dawn said her customers enjoyed the rewards program and were disappointed when the campaign finished, so she decided to introduce “Tradie” cards as a replacement.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Her new loyalty scheme offers customers a 20 per cent discount but also helps her raise money for charity.<\/p>\n

Dawn sells the cards for $10. This money, less a small amount for printing costs, is then set aside for local charities.<\/p>\n

“So far I have accumulated $600 in just five weeks,” Dawn told southburnett.com.au<\/strong><\/p>\n

She has already presented $250 to the Ulysses motorcycle club, who have told her they will use the money to help SBcare.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, she presented a cheque for $300 to South Burnett CTC’s Youth and Family Services.<\/p>\n

“This will be going straight to emergency relief,” Youth and Family Services manager Kirsten Firman said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“There is an incredible need in the community and demand on emergency relief.”<\/p>\n

Dawn said she hoped she would be able to raise $5000 a year, however she would also continue to support her two favourite charities, the Hear and Say Centre, and Relay For Life.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
