Samantha Crawford, from Kumbia, was presented with the South Burnett Mayor’s Bursary at the National Council of Women of Queensland Bursary Awards held in Brisbane last week.<\/p>\n

The $1000 bursary, one of almost 30 on offer via the National Council of Women, was for female applicants who live in the South Burnett Regional Council area, are Australian citizens or permanent residents, and who are enrolled in a full-time, part-time or distance education course at either university or TAFE.<\/p>\n

The successful applicant must also be able to demonstrate their contribution to the local community, for example through a sports group, school, church, service club, CWA etc.<\/p>\n

Samantha has a history of community activities, including volunteering at the annual Kumbia Brain Drain and at the Kumbia Christmas Carnival.<\/p>\n

She is currently studying a a Bachelor of Primary Education at the University of the Sunshine Coast.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, South Burnett Mayor Keith Campbell said the Council was very happy to sponsor the bursary, and he thought Samantha was a worthy recipient of this year’s award.<\/p>\n

A few years ago local women won as many as four National Council of Women bursaries, each in different categories.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
