The first week of August is National Missing Persons Week, a time to try to find those people – young and old – who have gone missing without a trace.<\/p>\n

When a person goes missing, relatives and friends are left worrying and wondering, often for years.<\/p>\n

The 2017 week-long campaign was launched by AFP Commissioner Andrew Colvin and Acting Deputy Commissioner Linford in Brisbane on Monday morning.<\/p>\n

This year, the focus is on the high number of youth that are reported missing each year with the campaign slogan, \u201cStill Waiting For You To Come Home\u201d.<\/p>\n

Young people aged 13-17 account for half of the 38,000 missing persons reports recorded by police every year.<\/p>\n

Fortunately most are either located or return home within a short period of time.<\/p>\n

Adults are more likely to be listed as long-term missing persons.<\/p>\n

Sometimes missing people fear getting in touch with police, but authorities say it is not illegal to go missing. And police will not disclose your location unless you agree.<\/p>\n

Kerry Mackay was last seen at the Wondai Road Caravan Park in Chinchilla at 7:15am on Thursday, February 27, 2003.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Kerry went to Chinchilla Showgrounds where she collected her dog and four pet birds.<\/p>\n

She was believed to be travelling to Dalby but has not been seen since.<\/p>\n

She was driving a white 1990 Toyota Corolla hatchback, \u00a0Queensland registration 960-FTH.<\/p>\n

Kerry was born in 1963 and would be 53 now. She is 154cm tall, of medium build, with brown hair and eyes and a fair complexion.<\/p>\n

Anyone with information that may help police find Kerry should call Crime Stoppers on 1800-333-000.<\/p>\n
