A new $1000 training bursary for older South Burnett women was launched at the recent Red Earth Community Foundation dinner held in Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

The bursary is being offered by the Barambah branch of the Queensland Rural, Regional and Remote Women’s Network (QRRRWN) and will be administered by Red Earth.<\/p>\n

It is open for women aged over 30 who live in the South Burnett and who are seeking assistance to gain additional skills via training or personal development.<\/p>\n

Mandy Bishop, from QRRRWN, reminded the audience that the Barambah branch had been with Red Earth since it began, with several members among the formation members of the not-for-profit foundation.<\/p>\n

“This is the first of our annual bursaries through the Red Earth Community Foundation,” she said.<\/p>\n

Also unveiled at the function was Red Earth’s new plan to raise money for its charitable activities.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Board member Karen Seiler explained the concept of “Impact100”, a fundraising strategy popular both overseas and elsewhere in Australia.<\/p>\n

The idea is for 100 people to commit to donating a set amount of money annually which could then be put towards a “high impact” project, \u00a0especially one that cannot be funded elsewhere.<\/p>\n

“2017 Impact100 South Burnett” would involve 100 people donating $200, which would create available funding of $20,000.<\/p>\n

“The 100 people would have voting rights to determine whatever project is selected to be funded,” Karen said.<\/p>\n

The aim is to make an “extraordinary impact” by funding a project that would benefit the disadvantaged in at least one of the following areas:<\/p>\n
