Disputes End In Charges"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>July 10, 2017<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Police are reminding residents that disputes over property ownership are a civil matter, not a police matter &#8230; but if violence erupts, people will be charged.<\/p>\n<p>Senior Constable Deb Wruck, from Gympie Police, said that ove the past week, two incidents of assault have been reported: one in Gympie and one in Jones Street, Goomeri.<\/p>\n<p>The similarities were that in both incidents:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The victim and offender were known to each other;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Both involved people moving property out from private dwellings\/homes; and<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Both victims were verbally abused and then head-butted.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&#8220;Back in the &#8216;caveman&#8217; days this may be the normal behaviour but police would like to think that in 2017 we have a more civilised culture,&#8221;\u00a0Senior Constable Wruck said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Property issues are a civil matter &#8211; not a police matter &#8211; and if agreements cannot be made as to who owns what, then people need to seek some legal advice either by contacting the local courthouse or a solicitor.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The only thing people will get by head butting someone is a criminal charge and a record for the rest of their
