The Nanango Tourism and Development Association will be taking a bus trip to heritage-listed Jimbour House on Saturday, July 22, and South Burnett opera lovers are invited to join them.<\/p>\n

The trip will take in a performance of Franz Leh\u00e1r\u2019s bubbly operetta The Merry Widow, featuring Emily Burke in the title role as the wealthy Hannah Glawari, and Australia\u2019s favourite leading man David Hobson as Count Danilo.<\/p>\n

They will be joined by Hayley Sugars, Virgilio Marino and some of Queensland\u2019s leading opera performers, as well as the Queensland Conservatorium Orchestra and Opera Queensland\u2019s Toowoomba Community Chorus.<\/p>\n

This much-loved tale will be part of an Opera At Jimbour day presented by OperaQ as part of this year’s Queensland Music Festival.<\/p>\n

Before the performance starts, a colourful array of market stalls displaying and selling local arts and produce will dot the grounds.<\/p>\n

A Champagne Bar will also be operating, and there’ll be an assortment of food and drink vendors on site as well, or you can bring along your own picnic basket (though strictly no BYO alcohol or glass).<\/p>\n

Opera At Jimbour days usually attract an audience of thousands, spread out on the lawns on chairs or blankets.<\/p>\n

NaTDA are running the trip to Jimbour as a fundraiser for their group, and a bus will leave Scott Car Park next to the South Burnett Energy Centre in Henry Street, Nanango at 8:30am on the day and return in the late afternoon after the operetta is over.<\/p>\n

Tickets are $25 return, and there is no charge to attend the opera.<\/p>\n
