The weather was perfect – heavenly, in fact – for the eighth annual Raising Hell In Maidenwell at the weekend.<\/p>\n

The event, held at the upgraded Maidenwell cricket ground, attracted about 80 vehicles plus a handful of vintage caravans for two days of fun, a show’n’shine and rock’n’roll music.<\/p>\n

The event is organised as a charity fundraiser by the South Burnett Gas Guzzlers hot rod and custom car club and is sponsored by the Heritage Community Bank, Nanango.<\/p>\n

Gas Guzzlers spokesman Terry Mackrell said all the usual popular added attractions were on offer, including the engine blow-up competition (Mitsubishi v Daewoo this year rather than the more traditional Holden v Ford).<\/p>\n

Fifties and sixties music echoed across the grounds as visitors mingled amongst the display of hot rods, street machines and classic cars.<\/p>\n

On Saturday night, the South Burnett’s own Elvis, Jeff Hancox, kept the rock’n’roll flavour going with live music and dancing at the Maidenwell Hotel.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, vehicles cruised to Nanango to allow visitors to inspect the South Burnett Energy Museum and then adjourned to the South Burnett Gas Guzzlers clubrooms at Nanango Showgrounds for a quiet get-together.<\/p>\n
