A world first touring theatre production that will be visiting Nanango and Murgon on July 7-8 promises to make astronomy fun<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

A new touring show that will be visiting Nanango and Murgon on July 7-8 promises a night of out-of-this-world entertainment … but you’ll need to dress warmly.<\/p>\n

The Townsville Astronomy Group and Full Throttle Theatre have teamed up to bring “Astronomical” to the South Burnett – a comic mix of astronomy and live theatre that debunks astronomy and astrology in equal measure.<\/p>\n

“Astronomical” is believed to be a world first.<\/p>\n

It began touring at Charters Towers on June 1 and will visit 65 towns around Queensland before it wraps up on September 9.<\/p>\n

Apart from six large computer-controlled telescopes, the show features three actors (Susan Prince, Daryll Heath and Bob Bartlett) playing multiple roles to create a magical cast.<\/p>\n

Bob Bartlett wrote the show, and Susan Prince directs it.<\/p>\n

During the night, audiences will get to meet Gallileo, Einstein, Neil Armstrong and Stephen Hawking, as well as Madam Charlatan.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The new production not only delivers belly laughs as it explores the universe, but the audience can participate by looking at the various astronomical wonders like Jupiter, Saturn, the constellations and even a black hole through the telescopes.<\/p>\n

They can also get to hear the eerie radio signals picked up from Saturn and other planets by passing deep space probes.<\/p>\n

The play is an outdoor production, so audience members should bring their own chairs and a picnic.<\/p>\n

There is also a limit of 90 for each performance to allow everyone to get a good look through the telescopes.<\/p>\n

“Astronomical” is suitable for all ages from 6 years upwards, and will run at the Nanango Showgrounds at 6:30pm on Friday, July 7, and then at Murgon Showgrounds at 6:30pm on Saturday, July 8.<\/p>\n

Tickets are $20 for adults, $10 for children or $50 for a family, and can be booked through Full Throttle Theatre’s website<\/b><\/a>.<\/p>\n
