Ivor Harm, from BRTS Racing in Brisbane, was the special guest at the Kingaroy Junior Motorcycle Speedway Club’s club day held on Saturday at Kingaroy Showgrounds.<\/p>\n

Ivor is the major sponsor of local rider Cordell Rogerson who has been competing on the junior speedway circuit on 125cc and 250cc bikes.<\/p>\n

But he had a big surprise for the young rider on Saturday … he brought along a 500cc bike for Cordell to try out.<\/p>\n

This is the first time that Cordell has had the opportunity to ride the larger bike in a trial around the Kingaroy track.<\/p>\n

Ivor has been sponsoring Cordell for about three years and has supplied a number of the youngster’s bikes.<\/p>\n

He believes Cordell shows natural talent on a speedway bike, which is a big endorsement as Ivor has backed some of the best riders in the sport.<\/p>\n

He has sponsored a number of riders over the years, including Darcy Ward, from Nanango, who \u00a0won the 2009, 2010 and 2011 Australian Under-21 Championships, the 2009 and 2010 World Under-21 Championships, and raced in the United Kingdom, Poland and Germany before his career was cut short by a bad crash in 2015.<\/p>\n

A “come and try” day for girl riders was held on Saturday morning.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Club secretary Tracey Tunstall said she was disappointed with the response – only one girl turned up – but she more than made up for the lack of numbers with her enthusiasm.<\/p>\n

Tracey said she just kept going around and around the track, and didn’t want to stop.<\/p>\n

Young Georgia Trace\u00a0is now keen to get her licence so she can take part in club days.<\/p>\n

Tracey said she also wanted to make a special mention of rider Blake Warrington, who raced in the club events on Saturday afternoon.<\/p>\n

“He is getting better every race and never gives up,” Tracey said.<\/p>\n

The next\u00a0Kingaroy Junior Motorcycle Speedway Club Day will be held on Saturday, July 29.<\/p>\n
