Nearly $215,000 worth of upgrades have just been completed at Murgon Hospital, including a new ambulance ramp and a refurbished emergency department.<\/p>\n

Murgon Hospital Director of Nursing Julie Kelly said the new ambulance ramp had streamlined the transportation of patients from the ambulance to the refurbished emergency department.<\/p>\n

\u201cParamedics used to have to bring patients through the front door and make their way through the hospital to the ED,\u201d Mrs Kelly said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe new ambulance ramp leads directly to a side door that is much closer to the ED, providing faster and easier access.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe new ramp also allows us to transport patients to the helipad more efficiently.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile being treated in the ED, patients will benefit from upgraded equipment including video conference technology allowing Murgon Hospital staff to consult with Brisbane doctors and specialists via the telehealth system, a new oxylog ventilator and new emergency trolleys.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt has also been renovated to make it more spacious and functional, and repainted.\u201d<\/p>\n

These projects have been funded as part of the Darling Downs Hospital and Health Service\u2019s regular maintenance and capital programs and the $50.6 million Backlog Maintenance Remediation Program (BMRP).<\/p>\n

The ED upgrade was also partially funded by the Murgon Hospital Auxiliary.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
