A man aged in his 60s suffered serious injuries when his ute and a B-double truck carrying lengths of timber collided head-on on the Chinchilla-Wondai Road near Durong on Thursday afternoon.<\/p>\n

An RACQ LifeFlight Rescue spokesperson said the man suffered suspected head, neck and limb injuries.<\/p>\n

The truck driver had a lucky escape, suffering only minor injuries despite the roof of his truck being ripped open by trees on the side of the road.<\/p>\n

Witnesses to the crash had to drive more than six kilometres to a farmhouse and use a landline to alert emergency services due to the lack of a mobile signal in the area.<\/p>\n

The ute driver was airlifted by the RACQ LifeFlight helicopter to Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane in a serious condition.<\/p>\n

Earlier on Thursday, the Bundaberg-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter attended a single vehicle crash on the Burnett Highway near Mulgildie.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The man, aged in his mid-60s, suffered suspected head injuries when his vehicle left the highway and rolled.<\/p>\n

The RACQ LifeFlight \u00a0helicopter was despatched to the scene just after 11:00am.<\/p>\n

They stabilised the patient with the assistance of QAS paramedics, police and Queensland Fire and Emergency Service personnel.<\/p>\n

The man was airlifted to Bundaberg Base Hospital in a stable condition for further treatment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
