Kingaroy Hospital doctors will have access to a new laryngoscope to help patients with breathing difficulties, thanks to the generosity of the hospital’s \u00a0Auxiliary.<\/p>\n

At the Kingaroy Hospital Auxiliary\u2019s high tea last year, then-treasurer Alison Murray promised $27,440 to the hospital to buy a C-MAC machine.<\/p>\n

\u201cFunds for the C-MAC machine were raised by the Auxiliary running the hospital canteen,\u201d Mrs Murray said.<\/p>\n

Kingaroy Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr R.T. Lewandowski thanked the Auxiliary for the donation.<\/p>\n

\u201cA C-MAC machine is used to assist patients with breathing difficulties; and the new one will be housed in the emergency department, while the existing C-MAC machine will be used in the operating theatre,\u201d Dr Lewandowski said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe machine is vital, because it can be used to treat babies through to adults.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Auxiliary has also put the call out for more volunteers to help run the canteen and bolster its fundraising efforts for a new ultrasound scanning machine valued at $47,000.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The second scanner will help reduce waiting times for patients, with the current machine used up to eight times in just one shift.<\/p>\n

Fundraising for the new machine is expected to take more than two years although additional donations are welcome.<\/p>\n

Canteen convenor David Morton said the Auxiliary ran the hospital canteen on weekdays between 8:30am and 2:00pm.<\/p>\n

\u201cDue to illness and family commitments many of our volunteers are unavailable at present,\u201d Mr Morton said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf any members of the community have spare time and know how to make a sandwich, the auxiliary would be delighted to hear from you.\u201d<\/p>\n
