Member for Nanango and Deputy Opposition Leader Deb Frecklington said on Wednesday afternoon she was extremely disappointed with the Acland decision by the Queensland Land Court.<\/p>\n

However, she reminded everyone that the court’s decision was not binding so “the ball is back firmly in the court” of the State Government.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would like to express my extreme disappointment following initial reports the Land Court has recommended the mining leases and environmental authority for the revised New Acland Stage 3 not be granted,” Mrs Frecklington said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn particular, I am very concerned for the nearly 800 employees and contractors, and their families, who today will be wondering if they will have a job beyond the end of 2017.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWe must bear in mind that the Land Court decision is a recommendation and is not binding.<\/p>\n

\u201cApproval was given by the Federal Government in January this year.<\/p>\n

“The final decisionmakers are the Palaszczcuk Labor Government and the ball is now firmly in their court.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI call on them to back regional jobs and regional families when making their final decision on this important project.\u201d<\/p>\n
