The intersection of Taylors Road and the Bunya Highway, north of Kingaroy<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The notorious intersection of Taylors and Meiers Roads with the Bunya Highway north of Kingaroy will be getting an upgrade from Monday (May 29).<\/p>\n

The intersection has been the site of several serious accidents in recent years, some fatal.<\/p>\n

In April last year the Federal Government announced it would give the South Burnett Regional Council $600,000 under its Black Spot Program funding to make the intersection safer.<\/p>\n

It also announced it would provide a further $1.05 million to improve the intersections of the D\u2019Aguilar Highway and Coolabunia Road (the Bora Ring turn-off) and Mary Street, near Coolabunia State School.<\/p>\n

Work on the Coolabunia intersections is now nearing completion, and the Taylors Road upgrade will conclude both projects.<\/p>\n

The intersection will receive a right turn treatment, and a separate left turn lane for vehicles travelling south.<\/strong><\/p>\n

To provide a safe work environment during the construction period, Taylors Road will be closed for an estimated three weeks.<\/p>\n

However Meiers Road will be closed to traffic for a longer period due to the type of works being conducted.<\/p>\n

Detours will be put in place on Taylors Road via Moore Street and on Meiers Road via West Street.<\/p>\n

Traffic on the Bunya Highway will be controlled by traffic lights or by traffic controllers, with minor delays expected.<\/p>\n

During road works, vehicle access to properties will be local traffic only, but residents will be notified of any planned works.<\/p>\n
