The Reading Bug Egg will be at the Nanango Markets on Saturday<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The rare \u201cReading Bug Egg\u201d which landed at Under 8s Day at Nanango State School and Nanango Library recently, is currently resting at St Patrick\u2019s School in Nanango.<\/p>\n

The children at St Patrick’s have been reading to the Egg for the past week and their efforts are starting to pay off … but more readers are needed!<\/p>\n

So this weekend the Egg will be at Nanango Markets from 8:00am until 11:00am on Saturday.<\/p>\n

There will be plenty of exciting story books for children to read plus information about the Reading Bug project.<\/p>\n

Egg curator Berneice Hilly, from RHealth, said some cracks were starting to appear in the outer shell of the Egg.<\/p>\n

“This tells us that there have been some great stories read to the Egg but more are needed to see the Egg hatch open,” she said.<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s important as many children as possible read to the Egg so more cracks will appear and the hatching process can begin.”<\/p>\n

Children who have read to the egg four times will have received four stickers for their Reading Bug bookmark.<\/p>\n

“This entitles you to take your bookmark to the Nanango Library to receive a free book,” Berneice said.<\/p>\n

The team at Nanango Library has already given out 30 books to budding Nanango readers but there is still a lot of reading to do.<\/p>\n

“We encourage all children from birth to prep and beyond, to continue reading, not only to the Egg, but also at school, home and with friends and family. Don\u2019t forget to wear RED to show that you are well READ!” Berneice said.<\/p>\n

The Reading Bug Project<\/strong><\/a> is a collaboration between RHealth, the South Burnett Regional Council, South Burnett CTC, Nanango State School, St Patrick\u2019s School and Stanwell.<\/p>\n
