The South Burnett Community Hospital Foundation will be at least $49,000 richer as a result of the Mayor’s Charity Ball held at Kingaroy Town Hall on Saturday night.<\/p>\n

The foundation supports the Lady Bjelke-Petersen community hospital and the money will be used to purchase equipment to support medical services there.<\/p>\n

Guests mingled in the Glendon Street Forecourt, enjoying music and drinks, before adjourning into the Town Hall for a three-course meal featuring South Burnett ingredients and a night of entertainment from the Kingaroy State High School jazz band, ventriloquist Darren Carr and band Honey.<\/p>\n

There were also several guest speakers, including \u00a0South Burnett Burnett Community Hospital\u00a0Foundation chairman Wayne Kratzmann who thanked South Burnett Mayor Keith Campbell for thinking of the Foundation when he planned the fundraiser.<\/p>\n

Mr Kratzmann said leading businesswoman Gina Rinehart – who had already donated $600,000 to the hospital – had now agreed to become patron of the Foundation.<\/strong><\/p>\n

But he said the Foundation still had more fundraising to do.<\/p>\n

“Every cent which is passed over to the Foundation will be used to save lives in the South Burnett,” he said.<\/p>\n

Mayor Campbell said the hospital was a great asset for the community and also provided local employment.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“If our people in the South Burnett who need to have medical procedures attended to can have them attended to locally, isn’t that a great plus for our region?” he said.<\/p>\n

The Mayor’s Ball was well supported with more than 30 businesses donating items for a string of raffles.<\/p>\n

Main sponsors for the night included Stanwell, SupaIGA and King & Company Solicitors.<\/p>\n

“What a spectacular evening,” Mayor Campbell said.<\/p>\n

“Words cannot describe how appreciative I am\u00a0of the overwhelming support from our great sponsors and the community to ensuring the future of the\u00a0community hospital.”<\/p>\n
