Pauline Hanson’s One Nation party has joined the protest to save the Jimna Fire Tower from demolition.<\/p>\n

Representatives from the party, including Queensland leader Steve Dickson, attended a “Help Save Our Aussie Heritage Rally” at the tower site on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Tower campaigner Dave Wright said Mr Dickson had described the wooden tower as a “national treasure” which One Nation supported funding.<\/p>\n

And the $800,000 redevelopment cost was “a surprisingly reasonable investment given the potential benefits and returns”.<\/p>\n

Mr Wright said the aim was to turn the tower into a “self-funding tourism destination”.<\/p>\n

“Mr Dickson commented on how it is inconceivable how the present Queensland Government could dilly-dally on their current decision to either retain this Heritage-listed Aussie icon or rip it to the ground,” Mr Wright said.<\/p>\n

“They have expert advice before them, from a highly professional and world-renowned Canadian wood specialist company … which clearly confirms that the tower can be redeveloped for public use.”<\/p>\n

The builder of the fire tower, Arthur Leis, also attended the rally with members of his family and enjoyed a surprise 90th birthday cake.<\/p>\n
