The 83rd annual Blackbutt Show had something for everyone this year – a dog show, a large equestrian competition, woodchopping and the finals of several Sub-Chamber competitions to determine who will represent the South Burnett at the Ekka.<\/p>\n

Mikaela Ross, from Goomeri, who was leading an Angus bull “Bowenfels Stockman”, won the Stud Beef Paraders competition, ahead of Summar Haynes, from St George, who led a Charolais bull “Larrikin”, and Stephanie Flint, from Proston, who came in third spot with her Limousin cow “Lola”.<\/p>\n

Other Sub-Chamber results decided at Blackbutt were the Stud Beef and Prime Beef Young Judges competition, and the Ute Muster (which was held on Friday night).<\/p>\n

southburnett.com.au<\/strong> will publish the the rest of the Sub-Chamber results when they become available.<\/p>\n

Richard O’Neill OAM, a legend in show circles, officially opened the show.<\/p>\n

He said that he had been coming to the Blackbutt Show for years and over that time he had seen it develop and expand.<\/p>\n

“It is a fantastic show here now and I hope you keep on improving,” Mr O’Neill said.<\/p>\n

A highlight for the crowd this year was a stunt pushbike rider who entertained the crowd with several shows.<\/p>\n

In the Pavilions, there was needlework, culinary, caged birds, photography and a beautiful – and very perfumed – display of cut flowers.<\/p>\n

The Timbertowns Woodworking Group had a crowd in their shed watching them create vases and other wooden items.<\/p>\n

Cherbourg band Muddy Flats took to the stage in the evening.<\/p>\n

The day was topped off in the usual way, with a large display fireworks.<\/p>\n
