{"id":178301,"date":"2017-05-16T21:53:37","date_gmt":"2017-05-16T11:53:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/?p=178301"},"modified":"2020-09-17T12:28:53","modified_gmt":"2020-09-17T02:28:53","slug":"may-exhibitions-dazzle-and-delight","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2017\/05\/16\/may-exhibitions-dazzle-and-delight\/","title":{"rendered":"May Exhibitions Dazzle And Delight"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_178302\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-178302\" style=\"width: 740px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/20170505wondai08a.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-178302\" title=\"20170505 Wondai Art Gallery\" src=\"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/20170505wondai08a.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"740\" height=\"460\" srcset=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/20170505wondai08a.jpg 620w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/20170505wondai08a-300x186.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 740px) 100vw, 740px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-178302\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Gaye Hobbs and her daughter Lucy were impressed by Theresa May&#8217;s &#8220;Summer Cicada Song&#8221;, one of many stunning paintings in the Wondai Regional Art Gallery&#8217;s May exhibition<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>May 17, 2017<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Art fanciers looking for something different have less than two weeks left to see the Wondai Regional Art Gallery&#8217;s May exhibition.<\/p>\n<p>The latest monthly show features a solo exhibition by South Burnett artist Marjie Zimmerman in the Front Gallery; and works by the Graham House Spinners and Weavers group in the Rear Gallery.<\/p>\n<p>But the works that drew most attention on opening night are the ones on show in the Main Gallery, which are by North Burnett artists Judith Ferris, Theresa May, Ngari Pearce and Jillanne Cahill.<\/p>\n<p>Theresa, Ngari and Judith are all members of the Biggenden Art Group, and their works were last seen at the Wondai Regional Art Gallery in 2014.<\/p>\n<p>Jillanne Cahill has recently joined the group, and her works have never been seen at the gallery before.<\/p>\n<p>The last time the group exhibited at Wondai their bold and colourful artworks drew many admiring comments.<\/p>\n<p>And the same reactions were just as evident on opening night for their latest exhibition, which some regulars said they thought was the best seen at Wondai so far this year.<\/p>\n<p>All four artists have markedly different styles and themes.<\/p>\n<p>What they share in common, though, is a love of big canvases and bold, bright colours which capture an imaginatively interpreted Australia.<\/p>\n<p>This month&#8217;s exhibition was opened by Cr Ros Heit, who said she was impressed by all three shows.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;d like to congratulate all the artists who&#8217;ve come together to put on this trio of exhibitions for us,&#8221; Cr Heit said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is a very high quality show and I think everyone who sees it will be very glad they did.&#8221;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Diversity&#8221; by Marjie Zimmermann; &#8220;Art Fusion&#8221; by Judith Ferris, Theresa May, Ngari Pearce and Jillanne Cahill; and &#8220;Spun and Woven Webs&#8221; by the Graham House Spinners &amp; Weavers Group will remain on show from 10:00am to 4:00pm daily until May 28.
