Pauline Hanson’s One Nation party has revealed its candidate for the State seat of Nanango … and it’s Douglas Grant, the businessman currently installing Murgon’s 40-camera CCTV security system.<\/p>\n

Ironically, the $369,000 funding for this project came about through an LNP election promise at the last Federal Election.<\/p>\n

Mr Grant describes himself on his LinkedIn profile as a “Senior Certified Analytic Consultant”.<\/p>\n

But he has done a lot more in his life than simply install CCTV cameras, according to his biography published on the One Nation website.<\/p>\n

According to One Nation, he lives “in the Electorate of Nanango, the Jewel of Queensland”.<\/p>\n

And although he supports One Nation’s policies, he made his mind up to contest the next State Election on “economic issues”.<\/p>\n

“We have a desperate situation now that has resulted in a massive debt close to $80 billion,\u201d the candidate’s page states.<\/p>\n

And he “does not believe either of the two major parties are capable or competent in running the State\u2019s finances\u201d.<\/p>\n

One Nation says Mr Grant emigrated from Canada, where he worked as an electrician, in the late 1980s with his Australian-born wife.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He has worked in timber mills, North Sea oil rigs, and managed international security divisions. Over the past 30 years he has specialised in CCTV design and consultancy throughout Queensland.<\/p>\n

One Nation says Mr Grant will be “working to improve the prosperity of the community in the areas of agriculture, tourism, and small business”.<\/p>\n

“This election will offer Queensland the opportunity to climb out of this spiral debt policy the present and past governments have left us with,” the page continues.<\/p>\n

“Less support has to be afforded to the population who refuse to work, or refuse to contribute to the community at large, with exception to people who honestly need assistance.”<\/p>\n

Mr Grant’s priorities are “always going to be to improve the quality of life of farmers, pensioners and veterans who have supported and served us all in the preservation of the Australian culture”.<\/p>\n

His campaign motto: “Keep our earnings in the State and employ our own people.”<\/p>\n

The eight-week Murgon CCTV project that Mr Grant is working on is being funded by the Federal Government’s Safer Communities Fund.<\/p>\n

The funding has been given to the Murgon Business and Development Association, fulfilling an election promise by LNP Member for Wide Bay Llew O’Brien that he would help the group secure CCTV and better lighting for the town’s CBD area.<\/p>\n
