The South Burnett Regional Council welcomed 10 new trainees on Monday.<\/p>\n

They are being employed on 12 month traineeships through the Queensland Government’s First Start program, which is focused on skills development skills for individuals, and providing direct assistance to Queenslanders who need support to enter and stay in the workforce.<\/p>\n

The Council partnered with South Burnett CTC, the Local Government Association Queensland and the State Government to fund, recruit and select the trainees.<\/p>\n

On Monday, Mayor Keith Campbell met the trainees to congratulate them on their successful appointment, and commend the efforts of everyone involved in their selection. <\/strong><\/p>\n

“I was particularly impressed with South Burnett\u2019s CTC\u2019s selection process,” Mayor Campbell said.<\/p>\n

“They screened 337 applications and carried out seemingly endless interviews to present Council with a short list.<\/p>\n

“Then the candidates went through further interviews to determine the successful applicants.”<\/p>\n

The trainees will undergo a structured training program monitored and supervised by TAFE Queensland and
\nApprenticeship Support Australia to ensure they meet all the requirements of their traineeships.<\/p>\n

The Council is one of the South Burnett’s largest employers, and the trainees have been spread across the region in the Council’s library, administration, civil construction, warehousing and horticulture areas.<\/p>\n

During their traineeships they will all complete a Certificate-level qualification in their relevant field.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
