Three fire crews were called to Earle Park in Kingaroy on Saturday afternoon to control a grass fire burning at the rear of homes.<\/p>\n

The fire was burning between Parkside Drive, Windsor Circle and Alford Street in an area that local residents call “Palm Island”.<\/p>\n

A fire brigade spokesman said the units were called at 2:35pm.<\/p>\n

Firefighters found a \u00a0thick pile of grass burning which was impossible to fully extinguish.<\/p>\n

They backburned an area around the pile to make the area safe while the pile was left to smoulder.<\/p>\n

They returned later to check on the area.<\/p>\n
