“It was massive!” … This is how South Burnett Show Society secretary Ros Tigell is describing the 110th Kingaroy Show at the weekend.<\/p>\n

Ros told southburnett.com.au<\/strong> more than 5000 paying customers passed through the gates at the showground across Saturday and Sunday.<\/p>\n

“Then there were all the people manning the trades stalls and the volunteers, and all the under 12s kids were free … there would have been more than 7000 people at the showgrounds,” Ros said.<\/p>\n

She said at one point she had to do a prize draw at the bar, and she looked around and the are area was packed the whole way around.<\/p>\n

“It was massive, massive,” she said.<\/p>\n

“The trade stalls all were really happy.”<\/p>\n

Ros said the Kingaroy Men’s Shed worked in with Endeavour to sell raffle tickets and they were “totally amazed where people were from, Darwin, Hervey Bay … ”<\/p>\n

The Stud Beef and Stud Dairy Cattle competitions were held on Saturday morning and attracted a good number of entries.<\/p>\n

The Dog show on Friday was also well supported.<\/p>\n

Ros said the cut flower entries were down a little due to recent weather, but the quality was high.<\/p>\n

There were an amazing 633 entries in the needlework pavilion.<\/p>\n

The speedway took over in the main ring after equestrian events were completed.<\/p>\n

Ros said the truck show was also well-supported with vehicles coming from Brisbane, Mt Cotton and other parts of south-east Queensland.<\/p>\n

“The locals will have to step up next year,” she joked.<\/p>\n

Special guests at the show were Opposition Leader Tim Nicholls and his wife Mary, who travelled from Brisbane especially for the opening ceremony.

\nMr Nicholls congratulated the Show Society members and volunteers for their efforts in putting on the event, a theme picked up by the other speakers at the official opening.<\/p>\n

“Events like this just don’t happen,” South Burnett Mayor Keith Campbell said. “They happen because there are people in the community who are willing to roll up their sleeves.”<\/p>\n

Other speakers included 2016 Queensland Rural Ambassador Justin Matthews, South Burnett Show Society president Cliff Seiler, and Deputy Opposition Leader Deb Frecklington.<\/p>\n

Kingaroy Show Parade<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

While most ag shows feature cattle, or maybe horses, in their parades, the Grand Parade at the Kingaroy Show is totally different and fully mechanised.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The parade started immediately after the official opening by Opposition Leader Tim Nicholls.<\/p>\n

There were historic tractors from the Kingaroy and District Vintage Machinery Club, V8-modified tractors from the sled pull display, utes from the Ute Show and lots and lots of prime movers and specialised vehicles from the truck show.<\/p>\n
