Local contractors have been invited to register for work on Kingaroy State High School’s new $4.5 million hall.<\/p>\n

The project is part of the State Government’s $200 million Advancing Queensland Schools program.<\/p>\n

Member for Bulimba Di Farmer said the State Government had made a call-out to local businesses to learn how they could be a part of this pipeline of work.<\/p>\n

Public Works Minister Mick de Brenni said tenders would open progressively from next month for the program.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are a wide range of works planned, so just about every trade will be required \u2013 painters, builders, concreters, roofers, electricians, plumbers and many more,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Mr de Brenni said contractors who registered with the Building and Asset Services team could also be provided opportunities to tender on other government building work outside of the Advancing Queensland Schools program.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe currently spend over $200 million each year repairing, upgrading or building public buildings and we need local businesses to deliver this work,\u201d Mr de Brenni said.<\/p>\n

\u201cLocal work should be done by local businesses wherever possible, so I strongly encourage every local business to get in touch with Building and Asset Services and register.\u201d<\/p>\n

An information session was held in Kingaroy on Thursday afternoon at the BAS depot in Prince Street.<\/p>\n
