Commercial Radio Australia released the first official radio ratings for the Kingaroy area on Wednesday – and the results will put smiles on the faces of the folks at Hit-FM (formerly C-FM \/ Hot-FM).<\/p>\n

The survey was conducted by Xtra Insights and is one of more than 30 radio surveys which will be conducted across regional Australia this year.<\/p>\n

Commercial Radio Australia, the national industry body representing Australia’s commercial radio broadcasters, introduced a new system for regional radio ratings last year.<\/p>\n

It says this system allows smaller radio markets to undertake more regular, reliable and cost-effective audience measurement.<\/p>\n

Previously, the prohibitive cost of radio surveys in regional areas has meant fewer surveys.<\/p>\n

Community radio stations – such as CROW-FM, K-FM or Wild Horse FM – and Indigenous stations such as USmob-FM – are not included in the survey.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The survey shows Hit-FM has 24.1 per cent of the audience in the important breakfast slot, ahead of ABC Southern Queensland with 20.5 per cent.<\/p>\n

Hit-FM also controls the morning, afternoon and drive slots while ABC Southern Queensland easily won evening.<\/p>\n

The survey also showed Hit-FM was dominant with younger listeners, leading in the 10+, 10-17, 18-39, 25-39 and 40-54 age groups.<\/p>\n

According to the results, Hit-FM has 41.7 per cent of listeners aged 18-39, and 42.2 per cent of the 25-39 bracket.<\/p>\n

Radio Southern Queensland is stronger in the older age groups with 22.5 per cent in the 55-64 age group, and 32.4 per cent of 65+.<\/p>\n

4SB is also stronger in these age groups: 13.5 per cent and 17.2 per cent.<\/p>\n
