Roads portfolio chairman Cr Damien Tessmann reported on the progress of a number of major roadworks projects at this week’s South Burnett Regional Council meeting:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • Reseal of Henry Sreet, Nanango<\/strong>
    \nWork started on November 12 and is expected to continue for about five weeks from 6:00pm until 6:00am every day, weather permitting. The work being carried out is on the section of road controlled by the Department of Main Roads but the side sections, mainly car park areas, are Council’s responsibility. Council’s part of this work is still being designed and Main Roads’ approval needs to be sought for it, but it’s anticipated these works will begin in the first quarter of 2013 and be finished by July at a cost of $100,000, including streetscaping.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
      \n
    • Haly Street Reconstruction, Kingaroy<\/strong>
      \nWork has begun and the railway line has been removed at the Haly Street traffic lights. Residents immediately affected by the work have been contacted by Main Roads via letter. The work is expected to take between three to four weeks at a cost of $900,000.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
        \n
      • Memerambi-Barkers Creek Road<\/strong>
        \nThis is a $290,000 construction job. Work will begin on fencing soon, then move to pavement construction.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
          \n
        • Widening of Crumpton Drive, Blackbutt<\/strong>
          \nThis $400,000 job is funded by the Commonwealth’s Roads To Recovery program and work will start soon. The starting date has been delayed by the Manumbar Road construction project, which should be completed within a week.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
            \n
          • D’Aguilar Highway Passing Lanes at Coolabunia<\/strong>
            \nWork on the passing lanes commenced on November 1 and it’s anticipated the work will be completed after Christmas. As part of this $1 million project – paid out of Queenslsnd Rail funding – a new entrance will also be built for a property on Peterson Drive so the property’s current driveway access to the D’Aguilar Highway can be removed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            • D’Aguilar Highway Passing Lanes at Parson’s Road, Nanango<\/strong>
              \nThe design work for this has been completed and is now awaiting Main Roads’ approval. Work is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2013.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

              Cr Tessmann also advised Councillors that a new system called “Ralph” is currently being developed by staff and should be available on the SBRC’s intranet in coming weeks.<\/p>\n
