What a great looking beast! I had a lot of fun helping sash some winners at this year’s Nanango Show<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

\"\"<\/a>April 17, 2017<\/strong><\/p>\n

We are very lucky in the South Burnett to have such high quality agricultural shows.<\/p>\n

I spent a great day out at the Cooyar Show on March 1, the Proston Show on March 11, and more recently at the Nanango Show on April 8.<\/p>\n

Due to the pressure of other commitments I wasn’t able to make it to the Goomeri or Murgon Shows this year – hopefully, I will next year – but from reports I’ve heard they were both excellent, too.<\/p>\n

I know all the Show committees put in months and months of hard work to organise these events, and I encourage everyone to get involved with the Kingaroy, Blackbutt and Wondai Shows which are still to come.<\/p>\n

Our region’s Shows are a great day out for the whole family.<\/p>\n

They also play an important role in preserving our finest agricultural traditions.<\/p>\n

And as a country girl myself, I applaud they wonderful things they do for our communities.<\/p>\n

The Proston Show is always a great day, and this year’s was particularly good – but expect an even better one in 2018 when the Show celebrates its 60th birthday<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Some of the contractors working on the Kingaroy Courthouse refurbishment include Ray Patroni (Wards Electrical), Justin Wann (FKG Group), Brennan Trace (FKG Group), Todd Fiedler (Fiedler Bros Pluming) and Alan Rowen (Wards Electrical).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Local Businesses Benefit From Courthouse Upgrade<\/strong><\/h2>\n

It was excellent to recently congratulate local businesses who have secured contracts to work on the refurbishment of the Kingaroy Courthouse.<\/p>\n

In fact, 17 local businesses will provide services to the main contractor, FKG Group throughout the construction period.<\/p>\n

Funding for the upgrade of the Kingaroy Courthouse was announced under our former LNP Government in 2014 and it is a shame it has taken this Labor Government two years to get it underway.<\/p>\n

However, now the works have finally started, it will not only help improve the frontline delivery of justice services in the region, but will also provide an economic injection for local tradespeople and the wider community.<\/p>\n

This is why local infrastructure projects are so important, not only to improve our services, but to ensure economic growth.<\/p>\n

Reading with Saint Mary\u2019s Catholic College prep class students<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Reading With Our Preppies<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Encouraging our children to read is important, so I was delighted when Saint Mary\u2019s Catholic College invited me to come and read to their Prep Class recently.<\/p>\n

I had a lovely time reading \u2018Going on a Bear Hunt\u2019, and the children also took the opportunity to read a book to me!<\/p>\n

Thank-you to the school for inviting me and to the children for my beautiful hand-made card.<\/p>\n

I have it on display in my office.<\/p>\n

Our team went to St John’s annual Trivia Night dressed up as The Village People to help the P&F Committee, and it was a fun night out<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Fun Night at St John\u2019s<\/strong><\/h2>\n

St John’s Lutheran School in Kingaroy held their annual Trivia Night on March 24, and as usual the school’s Parents and Friends Committee turned on a fantastic time.<\/p>\n

Our team, including Anthony and Corin Goodger, Murray and Bronwyn Lord and myself and Jason went as the \u2018Village People\u2019.<\/p>\n

St John’s Trivia Night is a fundraiser for the P&F that I always enjoy attending.<\/p>\n
