The Kumbia and District Charity Campdraft Association are preparing for a big Easter weekend … and campdrafting fans are unlikely to be disappointed with their efforts.<\/p>\n

Thanks to this year’s major sponsor Kingaroy Equipment Sales, who donated steel for the newly constructed camp and yard improvements at the Kumbia Sports Grounds, competitors will get to enjoy better facilities this year.<\/p>\n

The standard of competition should also be high.<\/p>\n

The Campdraft Association received more than 1128 nominations for this year’s draft.<\/p>\n

After a lot of careful thought, they managed to reduce this to a more workable 900 – but only by removing Juvenile competitors from Open events.<\/p>\n

However, they are still allowed two riders in the Juvenile draft plus a maximum of eight runs per competitor, excluding the Restricted Open.<\/p>\n

The volume of entries has also pushed the ACA-affiliated two-day event out to three days this year, and forced the Association to source extra cattle.<\/p>\n

The campdraft will be held at the Kumbia Sports Grounds off Bell Street on April 15-17.<\/strong><\/p>\n

On Saturday, the draft will kick off at 6:00am and will feature the first rounds of the Open, Restricted Open and Novice events.<\/p>\n

On Saturday night, participants and spectators can enjoy a two course roast meal and dessert at the canteen, or a barbecue at the Old Bar.<\/p>\n

There’ll also be live entertainment, a multi-prize draw and a Restricted Open calcutta, along with a Painted Beast and novelty sporting events for children.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, there’ll be a jam-packed program from 6:00am that will feature the continuation of the Novice first round; the final of the Restricted Open and Novice; a Junior draft; a Juvenile draft; the second round and final of the Open draft; and the first round of the Maiden draft.<\/p>\n

The campdraft will then conclude on Sunday with the remainder of the Maiden draft, again starting at 6:00am.<\/p>\n

The draft is free for spectators to attend, and there will also be free camping in the Sports Grounds over the weekend.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
