St John’s students and teachers test their skills at South Burnett Kart Hire<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Year 7 students from St John\u2019s Lutheran School in Kingaroy enjoyed a visit to South Burnett Kart Hire in Nanango this week as part of their “Incentive” activities.<\/p>\n

They spent the afternoon on the track racing each other and their teachers.<\/p>\n

The activity day was the first in a number of end-of-year experiences the students will look forward to over their last few weeks of primary schooling at St John\u2019s.<\/p>\n

Year 7 teacher Steve Peterson said it had become tradition at the school for the students to look forward to some extra activities during their last few weeks.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe plan some great experiences for the Year 7s to keep them motivated during these last few weeks to enable them to spend some time with their classmates in a casual environment,” he said.<\/p>\n

“Some students are heading off to boarding school or leaving the area and these activities give them some lasting memories of their final weeks with their classmates at primary school.<\/p>\n

“They are looking forward to more activities in the coming weeks, like Splatt and bike riding to the Kingaroy pool for a swimming afternoon. It is great for us as teachers, also, to have some fun experiences with such an amazing group of young people.”<\/p>\n

Fellow Year 7 teacher Suz Wilks said the activities were a culmination of the students’ commitment and great behaviour throughout the year.<\/p>\n

“They have worked hard to achieve great NAPLAN results they can all be proud of,” she said.<\/p>\n

“They have proved to be excellent role models to the younger students in our school. They have been a great group who have taken their leadership roles seriously and have assisted in various areas of the school, including running assembly each week and organising the sound and Powerpoint presentations for our weekly whole school devotions.<\/p>\n

“They deserve to enjoy their last few weeks having some fun times with their mates.\u201d<\/p>\n

Students returned from the go kart track sharing stories about their track times.<\/p>\n

However the teachers felt that some of the stories about the track times against the teacher\u2019s times may have been slightly exaggerated!<\/p>\n
