November 22, 2012<\/strong><\/p>\n

The quality of Kingaroy water will receive a much-needed boost following the announcement today of $680,000 funding by the State Government.<\/p>\n

The South Burnett Regional Council has received the funding from the Local Government Grants and Subsidies Program to install a dissolved air flotation device at the Gordonbrook Water Treatment Plant.<\/p>\n

Local Government Minister David Crisafulli said the project would serve the community for years to come.<\/p>\n

\u201c(It) will upgrade the water quality for Kingaroy and surrounds and improve the reliability of the plant,\u201d Mr Crisafulli said.<\/p>\n

Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington said water quality had been an ongoing issue that the previous Labor Government had refused to address.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have been fighting for this funding since we came to government in March,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cKingaroy\u2019s town water supply is often undrinkable and these funds will deliver much-needed infrastructure upgrades.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m proud to be part of a government that invests in regional communities.\u201d<\/p>\n

UPDATE November 23, 2012<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

South Burnett Mayor Wayne Kratzmann welcomed news of the $680,000 grant today.<\/p>\n

“This grant will cover about 28 per cent of the cost of this $2.38 million project, and we appreciate the State Government’s assistance.”<\/p>\n
