Nanango Sporting Association officials are pleased with the 25 per cent increase in entries at their second annual Power Up Car Show & Shine And Swap Meet.<\/p>\n

The all-day event was held at the Burnett Street sports fields recently as a fundraiser for the sporting association to improve the grounds which are used by the Nanango Panthers soccer club, the Nanango Cricket Club and the Nanango Kennel Club.<\/p>\n

Association officials said entries in this year’s competitions were up by a hefty margin, and they were delighted a number of local car clubs like the South Burnett Gas Guzzlers came along to add to the event by displaying their vehicles.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The all-day Show & Shine focussed on pre-1984 vehicles, but other types were also welcome to take part and many did.<\/p>\n

Live entertainment, food and coffee stands, and stall holders selling a variety of automotive items helped round out the day.<\/p>\n

The gold coin donation admission proved popular with families looking for a budget day out.<\/p>\n

Organisers had originally planned to hold trophy presentations at 3:00pm, but many drivers brought their vehicles from locations all around south-east Queensland.<\/p>\n

When they told the Association they wanted to get back home before dusk, officials bowed to popular demand and awarded the gongs a little earlier.<\/p>\n

The day was sponsored by Tarong’s Meandu Mine, Stanwell Corporation, Shannon’s Insurance, Ken Mills Mahindra Machinery and Nanango’s Heritage Bank.<\/p>\n

The Sporting Association’s next big event will be their Annual General Meeting, will be held at their Burnett Street clubhouse at 7:00pm on April 26.<\/p>\n

The next big event for South Burnett car enthusiasts will occur on April 15-16, when the Blackbutt-Benarkin Lions Club hold their own Show, Shine and Swap Meet at the Blackbutt Showgrounds.<\/p>\n
