Heavy rain over a short period of time caused flash flooding in many locations in the southern part of the South Burnett; there were even heavier falls across the northern areas<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The South Burnett has been added to the list of regions which qualify for help in the wake of ex-Tropical Cyclone Debbie.<\/p>\n

The South Burnett Regional Council can now access joint Federal-State Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA) funding to fix essential public assets<\/p>\n

A total of 28 local government areas in Queensland are now eligible to receive help, ranging from concessional interest rate loans and freight subsidies to infrastructure repairs.<\/p>\n

In the South Burnett, assistance is limited to counter-disaster operations, clean-up activities and the restoration of damaged community infrastructure.<\/p>\n

Justice Minister Michael Keenan announced the extra help for the South Burnett on Tuesday, a day after the adjoining North Burnett and Gympie regions were granted access to the same assistance.<\/p>\n

Member for Maranoa David Littleproud said he had been lobbying on behalf of impacted communities in his electorate.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWidespread flooding has caused damage to our roads and agricultural sector and the NDRAA is an important mechanism to help affected communities get back on their feet,\u201d Mr Littleproud said.<\/p>\n
