The search is continuing for missing Mondure man David Heidemann, feared swept away by floodwaters at Silverleaf on Thursday night.<\/p>\n

Police and SES volunteers have been scouring creek banks and road verges since Mr Heidemann was reported missing as the remnants of ex-Cyclone Debbie passed through the area, bringing heavy rain.<\/p>\n

Mr Heidemann, who is not believed to be a strong swimmer, has not been seen since he set out on foot from an address on Mondure Wheatlands Road at 8:00pm on Thursday.<\/p>\n

He told family he planned to meet a friend who was waiting for him on Campbells Road.<\/p>\n

The last contact that was had with him was by mobile phone, when he apparently said he was walking in waist-deep water.<\/p>\n

Police, who confirmed Mr Heidemann was talking to someone at the time, fear he was washed off a concrete floodway on Campbells Road.<\/p>\n

This floodway spans a creek which flows into Barambah Creek; water would have been flowing very strongly at the time.<\/p>\n

Even SES volunteers had to take precautions when they were first called out to stop being washed away.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mr Heidemann was reported missing after failing to meet his friend and failing to return home.<\/p>\n

Police quickly began a search and were then joined by a swift water rescue crew.<\/p>\n

SES flood boats and police in a kayak also searched along the creek and creek banks.<\/p>\n

Police and SES volunteers have continued to search extensively along the gully the creek runs through on its way to Barambah Creek.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The water level in Barambah Creek is backing up into the search gully which is making things more difficult for searchers.<\/p>\n

A command station has been established near Kathy Duff Bridge on Campbells Road.<\/p>\n

Mr Heidemann is described as Caucasian, 170cm tall with a slim build, dark brown hair and hazel eyes.<\/p>\n

He was last seen wearing dark jeans and a black zip-up jacket with a green motif on the front.<\/p>\n

Anyone who may have seen Mr Heidemann or has any information in relation to his whereabouts is urged to contact Murgon Police on (07) 4179-5222 or Crime Stoppers on 1800-333-000.<\/p>\n
