Toowoomba mayor Paul Antonio has praised the work of the region\u2019s SES units – and the role they play in the local community – at the handover of 10 new 4WDs.<\/p>\n

SES groups in the Toowoomba Regional Council area operate from Yarraman, Crows Nest, Toowoomba, Millmerran, Clifton, Oakey, Cecil Plains and Pittsworth.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thank and acknowledge all SES and emergency services volunteers who serve our community by responding to a wide range of incidents and disasters, their commitment is invaluable,\u201d Mayor Antonio said.<\/p>\n

He handed over 10 specially equipped SES vehicles to SES Local Controller Rob Hall.<\/p>\n

The 10 4WDs, which cost almost half a million dollars, are standardised which means there will be interoperability between all groups.<\/p>\n

Property Services portfolio leader Cr Geoff McDonald said that although Yarraman SES had not received one of the new 4WD vehicles, council had responded to a request to provide a troop carrier for the group.<\/p>\n

Council replaced Yarraman’s current troop carrier with a similar vehicle with low kilometres formerly used by the the Toowoomba SES group.<\/p>\n

Cr McDonald said this would better suit training and operational needs around Yarraman.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
