Meet the Quota Club of Kingaroy’s 2017-18 executive: Vice President Vikki O’Brien, President Marie Shaw, Secretary Wendy Tully and Treasurer Alison Otto<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The Quota Club of Kingaroy has a new executive team for 2017, though their faces will probably be well known to many.<\/p>\n

Last year’s president Vikki O’Brien will take on the role of vice-president this year as she supports incoming president Marie Shaw, who will be stepping back into the role.<\/p>\n

Wendy Tully will remain the group’s secretary, and Alison Otto its treasurer.<\/p>\n

The four women were confirmed at Quota’s annual Changeover Lunch held at Kingaroy’s Midnight At The Oasis Restaurant on Saturday.<\/p>\n

A large gathering of Quota members and friends heard that in the past year the club had lent its fundraising efforts to many worthwhile causes, and occasionally members’ labour as well.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Charitable community enterprises Quota had helped fund included the South Burnett Pantry, RACQ LifeFlight, the Kingaroy Scouts and the Royal Flying Doctor Service.<\/p>\n

The group also sponsored the Quota Award For Citizenship, which is presented each year to an outstanding Kingaroy State High School student.<\/p>\n

And it held an International Women’s Day dinner last year to raise funds for the Hear And Say Centre at Ashgrove, as well as a special dinner to celebrate the branch’s 40th birthday.<\/p>\n

Quota members also helped out at a wide range of community events, ranging from Australia Day celebrations to the annual Lions Club Trail Ride.<\/p>\n

But perhaps the most unusual task members undertook was spending two days at the Orana Lutheran Complex last October converting 400 king-size bed sheets into single sheet sets and pillow cases.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Orana inherited the 400 sheets, but since it didn’t have any king size beds it needed help to convert them.<\/p>\n

Members responded by bringing along their sewing machines and sewing gear, then spending two days at the complex to effect the conversion.<\/p>\n

Marie said the group was looking forward to another productive year helping the Kingaroy community, and potential new members were always welcome to come along to the group’s regular second Monday of the month meeting, which is held at the Biscuit Tin at 15 Albert Street at 7:00pm.<\/p>\n
